Glengoyne is unique in producing Highland single malt whisky matured in the Lowlands. We selected Glengoyne as the distillery to take a tour of towards the end of our Scotland trip! Below you will see the options of tours you can take while at Glengoyne. We showed up and were able to take the last tour of the day! We decided on the Wee Tast

Eilean Donan Castle, Kyle of Lochalsh, Scotland.

Eilean Donan, a 13th Century Castle in the Highlands of Scotland. Eilean Donan is recognized as one of the most iconic images of Scotland. Situated on an island at the point where three great sea lochs meet, and surrounded by some majestic scenery, it is little wonder that the castle is now one of the most visited and important attractions in the Scottish Highlands. The first fortified structure was not built on the island until the early 13th century as a defensive measure,

Isle of Skye is really beautiful!

Isle of Skye has so much landscape and scenery to offer. Epic waterfalls, mountains, and more! We were able to spend a few days here while in Scotland and boy is it pretty! Some suggested places to visit: The Storr, Neist Point, Dunvegan Castle, Eilean Donan (on your way to Skye), and Kilt Rock and Mealt Falls Viewpoint. Drive around, explore and take in the scenery! The Isle of Skye (an t-Eilean Sgiathanach in Gaelic) takes its name from the old Norse sky-a, meaning ‘cloud i

Old Man Storr on the Isle of Skye in Scotland.

The ‘Old Man’ is a large pinnacle of rock that stands high and can be seen for miles around. As part of the Trotternish ridge the Storr was formed by a massive landslide, leaving behind one of the most photographed landscapes in the world. The Storr walk uses the same path up and down, starting & returning at the same point, the carpark. It covers a distance of 3.8km, with the average time to complete the walk being 1 hour 15 minutes (with no stops). We of course stopped man

    Neist Point, Isle of Skye.

Neist Point! Check out this place! The most westerly headland on Skye, an iconic destination, with stunning cliff scenery, and an outlook to the Outer Hebrides. At this spot you will see a walking path to guide you all around. It projects into The Minch and provides a walk and viewpoint. Neist Point (pronounced 'Neest') is renowned for its rock formations, which are closely akin to those at the Giant's Causeway in Northern Ireland. It is said that the causeway extends under t

5 TIPS for visiting Stirling Castle, Scotland

Out of all the castles we visited on our road trip around Scotland, Stirling Castle stands at the top of the list for being one of the favorites. We are so glad that on our way to The Highlands we stopped in Stirling to tour the castle! We arrived in the early afternoon to see this castle sitting atop what is known as Castle Hill, surrounded by tall cliffs on three sides. We spent some time viewing it from the road down below where the highland cows were roaming in the field

Great CHEESE does not exist without great cheesemongers!

I.J Mellis Cheesemonger, Mellis Cheese - Purveyors of fine farmhouse and artisan cheeses, our favorite shop we discovered while staying in Stockbridge, Edinburgh, Scotland. We visited this store and purchased high quality farmhouse cheeses on two different occasions, at the start and the end of our trip. The start of the trip we were in Stockbridge and picked up cheese, baguettes, and a Scottish Egg. We made mini sandwiches for lunch before our journey towards the highlands.

County Clays Sporting Clay Pigeon Range

Scotland has an outstanding reputation for game shooting, so when traveleing to Scotland we figured it would be great place for Sarek to work on his shooting technic, for clay shooting. County Clays at Dunkeld House Hotel is the biggest sporting clay pigeon range in Scotland and was just a few towns away from the Luxury Hotel at Fonab Castle, where we were staying, so that is where we spent a short time one afternoon so Sarek could practice his skills at the sporting clay pig

The Best Burger In Edinburgh Scotland - Byron's Proper Hamburger

We try one of the best, if not the best burger in Edinburgh, Scotland and arguably the UK! From their signature BBQ sauce to RUM spiced milkshakes, Byron takes "the proper hamburger" to another level. If you're an American missing home or a foodie / burger connoisseur, Byron's Burgers should be on your list when doing a food crawl across Scotland. While in Edinburgh we ate at 1) The Witchery 2) The Raeburn (Breakfast & Dinner), 3) Byron's Burgers 4) Pizza Express 5) Brew Dog E
